Fried White Bait

A salty treat for the family to enjoy as an appetizer, it is so very simple to make and very morish!

Prep and Cooking Time – 20 minutes | Serves – 

INGREDIENTS

– 300g edible white bait fish
– 1 cup plain flour
– 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
– pepper for seasoning
– vegetable oil for deep frying (generous amount)
– Glad sealable sandwich bag

METHOD

Step 1. Defrost fish, disregard any broken fish and ensure they are dry.

Step 2. In a bowl, combine thoroughly flour, salt and pepper.

Step 3. Put the fish and flour together in the Glad sandwich bag, using it to coat the fish thoroughly.

Step 4. Remove the contents of the Glad bag onto a sieve and shake off the excess flour.

Step 5. Heat  up the vegetable oil in a frying pan. Ensure to use a generous amount of oil to enable to deep-fry the fish. When the oil is hot, place the coated fish from the sieve into the frying pan.

Step 6. Fry the white bait until super crispy, giving a dark brown colour. When cooked, transfer onto a paper-lined plate to drain the excess oil. Serve immediately.
