The beauty of dahl is that it is such a versatile dish to make; there are so many recipes with variations and adaptations that you can\u00a0add \/ remove to suit your tastes. However this dahl recipe, given to me by my sister-in-law, is simple for a reason &#8211; it&#8217;s an accompaniment dish meaning its\u00a0purpose is to simply compliment\u00a0a really nice, flavoursome curry. The reason for this is because I believe that if both the curry and dahl have masala in them, the taste gets a bit too much. This dahl provides flavours that do not overpower the curry.<\/p>\n<p>My son loves dahl with rice and any meat (not necessarily curry &#8211; think roast chicken, sausages, and the likes) while my family enjoys it with the <a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.0.14\/\/?p=1284\">Chunky and Creamy Beef Curry<\/a>. I hope you enjoy it too \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.lalaskitchen.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/KBD_0375-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1313 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.0.14\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/KBD_0375-copy-1024x680.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Prep and Cooking Time &#8211; <strong>25 minutes\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u2013 2 onions (180g)<\/div>\n<div>\u2013\u00a02\u00a0garlic cloves (10g)<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 1 teaspoon minced ginger (5g)<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 30g olive oil<\/div>\n<div>\u2013\u00a01 teaspoon Turmeric powder<\/div>\n<div>\u2013\u00a01\/2 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds<\/div>\n<div>\u2013\u00a02 sprigs fresh curry leaves<\/div>\n<div>\u2013\u00a02 cups of red lentils (315g)<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 1200g water<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 3 teaspoons salt<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u2013\u00a0coriander leaves, to garnish<\/div>\n<p><strong>METHOD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add onion, garlic and ginger to the TM bowl and chop\u00a0<strong>3 sec \/ speed 7<\/strong>. Scrape the sides of the bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Add oil and saut\u00e9 \u00a0<strong>2 mins \/ 100oC \/ speed 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Add\u00a0fenugreek seeds, turmeric powder and curry leaves. Saut\u00e9 <strong>2 mins \/ 100oC \/ speed 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Add red lentils, salt and water. Cook <strong>20 mins \/ 100oC \/ reverse \/ speed soft<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Place in your ThermoServer to keep warm until ready to serve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTES AND VARIATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This dahl comes out runny but it does thicken up over time like in the picture.
